Jersey girl goes to school in Central Florida, makes good, gets crowned beauty queen, then comes home to her roots. It would make a good song, and maybe Kate Judge will write it.
Kate joins an exciting roster of talent appearing at the Yachtstock RiverJam June 15th in Essington, PA. The annual event is dedicated to raising funds for children will chronic illnesses and in 2013 proceeds benefit Shriners Hospitals Philadelphia.

More exciting news on Yachtstock RiverJam's schedule of artists for June 15th as Sherry Lynn has just been added! Sherry adds to the country and americana slate of artists, joining emerging country artist Sara Spicer and 15+ bands on two stages for a day of incredible music. Sherry Lynn has just completed a promising new album, "Beautiful Life" which will be available just in time for her appearance June 15th. The title track features a sparkling duet with country superstar Crystal Gayle. Sherry Lynn grew up in the Philly region in Clayton, New Jersey. Inspired as a child by the film "Coal Miners Daughter" Sherry has her own story made for a Hollywood movie. Sherry explains that she got far more than she expected out of an opportunity to open for Crystal Gayle at historic Broadway Theatre in Pittman, New Jersey in 2006.
"I've opened for a lot of artists, and when you're the opening act, many of them don't even come out of their dressing rooms until you're finished", Sherry says. "Crystal was one of the few who actually sat there in the green room and watched my performance. After the show, she sat with me, my mom and my grandma for over an hour, talking like we were friends for years."
It was one of those freeze-frame moments for Sherry. As a child, she'd set her career compass to singing the same day she watched Loretta Lynn's biopic Coal Miner's Daughter. And now there she was, hanging out with Loretta's sister. In 2010, a chance meeting in Nashville with Crystal and her husband, Bill Gatzimos, took Sherry's relationship with Crystal to another level. When Crystal heard about Sherry's new album she offered to lend her vocals to Beautiful Life, a song co-penned by award-winning tunesmith Danny Wells, best known for George Strait's "Check Yes Or No" and Rascal Flatts' "These Days." Sherry and Crystal joined voices at Crystal's studio, Audio 51, with producer Ted Hewitt, the studio wizard behind Rodney Atkins' string of Number One hits. Crystal's son Chris Gatzimos engineered the session.
Come out to Yachtstock RiverJam in Essington PA June 15th and share Sherry Lynn's "Beautiful Life" and support a great cause!
Oh Jeannie Mac! Don't you just wish it was Saint Patty's Day all over again? Well, your wish has been granted! Philly's famous Irish rockers Blackthorn will be making the rounds at Yachstock River Jam June 15th. As a matter of fact they will be the main attraction! Blackthorn has over five albums to their credit. The first album, "It's An Irish Thing" was an instant hit with their fans with songs like "Celtic Symphony" becoming and anthem of sorts in the Philadelphia Area.
Over the past six years, Blackthorn has recorded three additional CDs: The Other Side, Ratty Shoes and Push and Pull each of which has gotten extensive airplay in the North East. The original CDs have opened many doors to the band. They have extended their reach beyond the traditional Irish venues and have gained a huge following with the college crowd. Just go to one of their show in the Jersey shore and you will find hundred of Baby Boomers, Gen X and Gen Y singing along to their songs.
Of the very few bands that make it to the level of Blackthorn, even fewer last more than a few years. But Blackthorn is Bigger today than they have ever been. Their music continues to evolve and the community that they started in small bars around the Philly area in the 90s continues to go. Blackthorn is not just a band, it's an institution. There are always five super talented musicians on the stage but they speak with one voice.
Singer Songwriter Amanda Duncan has just been added to the Yachtstock lineup. The aggressively positive tilt of Duncan's vibrant mix of pop and folk has been turning heads in the Philly region. Duncan is currently a top finalist in the coveted Philadelphia Songwriters Project Showcase. Amanda also opened in early May for violinist Lindsey Stirling at The Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, New Jersey.
“There are so many songs out there that are reflective of negative issues of people’s lives. I want to connect with the positive,” says Duncan. For those listeners looking for something refreshing, Amanda delivers. With a love for all things catchy and melodic, she reaches audiences young and old, wielding her acoustic guitar and mandolin and holding tight to her dedication to remaining always honest, never put-on, never false. After the show, she wants to meet every person in the room, to learn about them, and just take the time to have some good old- fashioned conversation.
We are excited to introduce the Yachtstock crowd to this up and coming artist.
